A coming of age tale set in the Shillong of the 1980s where communal tensions rose with the spectre of illegal immigration in the background. A Bengali boy was forced to learn the word for foreigner: 'dkhar' but soon enough, he made an unlikely, loyal friend in a Khasi boy. In a way, their friendship became the salvation of both their families, enabling each to clearly see the humanity in the other during those troubled times.
