The sun does not break up into pieces. It does not break up into disembodied parts when it falls into trees and things. Each piece of the sun is always a complete little sun.
Wainaina died earlier this year which perhaps makes reading his memoir in late 2019 not quite what reading it a year ago would have been. He writes of his early life demonstrating throughout that 'Africa is Not a Country', a theme he often highlighted, and showing that despite it all, there isn't so much that's different about humans regardless of where they're from. He died at 48, almost a decade after this was written.
